My passion for graphic design dates back to the early to mid whimsical 1990s when I slowly became entranced and subsequently enamoured with the superior boldness and total hotness of Coca-Cola and Pepsi cans.
Being a recalcitrant minor, though, I was puzzled as to why I had such a love affair with the aluminum canisters. Despite my lack of understanding as to why I was so drawn to these seemingly frivolous and common items, I still remained steadfast in feverishly collecting the cans of grace along with stellar license plates from other states throughout my youth. ( And, to this day, even into my adulthood. Who else has a 12 pack of Coca-Cola C2 for safe keeping? ( If you do, email me. ) )
Now that the ancient history is out of the way let us fast forward to the spring of 2001. One day during that spell of massive pollination, all the dots just magically connected and I completely realized and understood that I was smitten by and had been in love with graphic design and typography for quite some time. I had just only subconsciously known it.
All the “trash collecting” finally made sense.
Rather rapidly not only did my eye for materials completely change, but the concentration of my Studio Art degree also changed from Drawing to Graphic Design. After this rather invigorating and modestly holy moment plus a quatrain’s worth of roaming the halls of the original USC, I graduated from college with a BFA in Art Studio with a concentration in Graphic Design.
Since graduating in 2005, the year of the Rooster, I’ve been professionally active in the field of graphic design; however, I’ve been an avid and acclaimed visual thinker my entire life.
As one Swedish brand says, “Se upp för Kopior.“
